The brewpub at the Bavarian Inn, the resort Erwin and Carol Asam opened in Shepherdstown in 1977 overlooking the Potomac. Brothers Christian and David Asam added a small brewery in January 2019 and named it for the Asam brothers of 1700s Munich, whose church door sunburst is in the logo. Beer is made in small batches on a one-barrel system, many named for family and local history, and pours in the Brew Pub, the Brew Lounge and the outdoor beer garden next to a few German imports. The all-day menu runs from 11:30am in the Brew Pub and Lounge, and the beer garden has a fire pit.
