About
getlocal.beer is a catalog of breweries and beers, built to answer one question: what is good near here? Whether you are traveling, new in town, or just tired of the same six-pack, you should be able to say what you want in plain words and get a short list of beers you can actually find.
It is a hobby project. Nobody pays to be listed and nothing is sponsored. We list micro breweries, regional breweries and the big national brands side by side because that is what is on the shelf, and we would rather you know the difference than hide it.
We started with Pennsylvania. The rest of the country is next, then Canada.
Where the data comes from
- Brewery websites and social pages, read by hand.
- Open Brewery DB for addresses and coordinates.
- ZIP code centers from the U.S. Census Bureau.
- Map tiles from OpenFreeMap, data from OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Links to Untappd and BeerAdvocate go to their pages. We do not copy their ratings or reviews.
Fix something
Wrong ABV, closed brewery, missing beer? Post it in Site feedback or open a pull request on GitHub. The whole catalog is plain JSON files anyone can edit.
