Siblings Aaron Rote and Abby Kopischke and Abby's husband Mike Kopischke turned an old antique store on Route 19, halfway between Morgantown and Fairmont, into a brewery and taproom that opened in July 2017. The family-owned brewery is known for hazy IPAs, clean lagers and its Fun With Prisms fruited sours, and Chasing Daylight IPA is the flagship. Its Half Moon Stance rice lager won Best of the Fest at Mountaineer Brewfest in 2026. Short Story also runs taprooms at 94 Long St in Westover across the river from Morgantown, at 186 Summers St in Charleston and at Deep Creek Lake in McHenry, Maryland.
