North End Tavern & Brewery

Parkersburg, WV · since 1997

The North End Tavern opened as a neighborhood pub in Parkersburg's North End in 1899 and is often called the oldest restaurant and bar in West Virginia. Joe Roedersheimer bought it in 1978 and added a 15-barrel brewery in 1997 using equipment from Charleston's old Cardinal Brewing, and Thrillist later named it the oldest brewery in the state. The flagship is Roedy's Red, an amber ale brewed since 1997, and head brewer Chris Hopkins, a Siebel graduate, runs three to six beers a month. Regulars call it the NET, and the kitchen is known for the NET burger and German-American dishes.
