Ministry of Brewing

A brewery inside the former St. Michael the Archangel Church on East Lombard Street, where Washington Hill, Upper Fells Point and Butchers Hill meet. The German Catholic church closed in 2010, and the brewery opened in the restored building in late January 2020. Founders include developer Ernst Valery, brewer David Wendell and Mike Powell, and Dave Macala is head brewer. The taproom pours from 32 rotating taps under 53-foot barrel ceilings, with a house cider, food trucks and kids welcome. It closes by 10pm every night under an agreement with the neighbors.
