Milkhouse Brewery at Stillpoint Farm

Tom Barse and Carolann McConaughy bought their 47-acre farm near Mount Airy in 2008 and opened the Milkhouse tasting room in June 2013. Barse, a homebrewer since 1972, helped get Maryland's farm brewery law passed in 2012, and Milkhouse was the state's first Class 8 farm brewery. The beers are mostly classic English, Irish and German styles made with Maryland hops, and an All Maryland line uses only grain grown and malted in the state. The farm has a one-acre hop yard, a flock of Leicester Longwool sheep and a seasonal mercantile selling local food.
