The Lion Brewery

A century old brewery in Wilkes-Barre that started life as the Luzerne County Brewing Company in 1905. Today it brews its own Lionshead brand, a cheap and popular pilsner in northeast Pennsylvania, and does a lot of contract brewing for other companies. The Lion owned the Stegmaier labels from 1974 until it sold them to Susquehanna Brewing in 2022, so Stegmaier is no longer a Lion beer. Private equity firm Encore Consumer Capital bought the brewery at the end of 2019. There is no public taproom.
