Heavy Seas Beer

Hugh Sisson, who opened Maryland's first brewpub in 1989, started Clipper City Brewing in Halethorpe in 1995. Its bolder Heavy Seas line, led by Loose Cannon IPA from 2005, outsold everything else, and the company took the Heavy Seas name in 2010. It calls itself Maryland's largest craft brewer. The taproom at the brewery has a game room, a Kooper's Pit Stop food truck and small-batch beers from a 15-barrel pilot brewhouse. In October 2025 Heavy Seas joined B3 Beverage Company, the group formed by Yards, Two Roads and Bald Birds.
