Harpoon started in Boston in 1986 when three college friends wanted better local beer on tap. It runs a Boston Beer Hall with a kitchen, a Boston Common beer garden, and breweries in Manchester and Windsor, Vermont. The company is employee owned and its beers are sold well beyond the taproom.
