Air Force veteran Adam Frey started Frey's Brewing in 2012 on a farm on the Frederick County side of Mount Airy. The tasting room opened in early 2019 inside a renovated 200-year-old bank barn. Frey's now runs mainly as an event farm, opening to the public for posted events like a cyclocross race, a dog day and anime weekends, and renting the barn for weddings and parties. The bar pours Frey's own beer along with mead, cider, wine and seltzer, and the beers carry offbeat names.
