Checkerspot Brewing Company

Judy and Rob Neff opened Checkerspot on Ridgely Street in 2018, a short walk from Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium. Every beer is treated with an enzyme to reduce gluten because Rob has a gluten sensitivity, though the beers use barley and wheat and are not gluten free. Judy, a Certified Cicerone with a PhD in microbiology, is the head brewer. The industrial taproom has copper tanks behind glass, a kitchen, an arcade mezzanine, a stage and room for big private parties. The name comes from the Baltimore checkerspot, the butterfly that is Maryland's state insect.
