Where to get it

Sold nationwide.

  • At the taproom
  • Bars and restaurants
  • Bottle shops
  • Beer distributors
  • Grocery stores
  • Convenience stores
  • Online orders

Sold across the country through distributors, and Wikipedia reports it reached all 50 states in 2017. In North Carolina, look for six-packs and twelve-packs in grocery stores, convenience stores and bottle shops, and draft at bars. The Beer Finder tracks recent distributor deliveries, so call the store first. The Asheville Liquid Center also pours beers that never leave the two taprooms.

Aroma

Dark malt, chocolate and a hint of licorice.

Appearance

Dark brown with a tan head.

Taste

Brighter than the color suggests, with chocolate and a dry finish.

Overall

Not a porter and not a stout. A good dark beer for people who find those too heavy.
